Speedy Girl!

Ane and the Webmaster ran their first 5K of the year on Saturday the 8th, and it was to support the Autism Center!  (I meant to write about it last week, but between Tad getting back from camp and spring break, it slipped my mind.  Bad Mom.)

Ane got a personal best time of 30:46, which she was really happy about!  The park where the 5K was being held is extremely hilly and cross-country like.

But the really fun part arrived this last Monday, when Ane got this in the mail…

Yes, Ane got 1st place in the “female 19 and under” division!  She was a full 8 minutes faster than the next girl in the division.  (Now, let’s keep in mind that there were only 9 runners in her division bracket, and two of them were 4 year olds, according to the race roster, and no one in the division was older than 13.)

Plus, she placed 28th overall out of 111 runners!  The female race winner was Tad’s ABA therapist, with a time of 22:02 (and 4th overall).

She and the Webmaster are running (well, he’s walking – his days of road running are over, per his orthopedic surgeon) their next 5K at the end of this month.  Ane really enjoys it, and it’s a lot of fun for the two of them to do together.
