Welcome, Rerun!

May I introduce the newest member of our family!

Our little Rerun was born at 2:57 pm on Monday afternoon! He weighed 7 pounds, 1 ounce, and is 21 inches long.

His mother is doing pretty well, too.

Big sister Ane was VERY excited to finally meet him.

Big brother Tad took note of him, but was more [...]

Time Off

Okay, here’s the scoop, everyone.
I am having a baby.
Shocking, yes?
But wait…
I am having a baby on Monday.
(pause while everyone gasps)
The plan is that I will be induced on Monday. Since this is a planned induction, there is always the likelihood that I could get bumped and have to wait. But as of right [...]

Taking the edge off in a bad way

There is an old Calvin and Hobbes cartoon strip story about Calvin getting sick. When his pediatrician says to Calvin that he’s been a good patient this time, Calvin is so out of it that he barely acknowledges him. The doctor then says to Calvin’s mom, “There’s nothing like a bug to take [...]

Evaluate the Crazy, Please!

In a crazed effort to get as much stuff taken care of before Rerun arrives, I took Tad for a consult with his pediatrician yesterday afternoon (who also is Ane’s doctor and will be Rerun’s. We’ll be seeing a lot of him again very soon).
Anyway, this particular consultation (the last time we did a [...]

The Concept of Time

Kids do NOT possess this.
Mrs. V., Ane’s teacher, told me when I picked her up at school yesterday, that she had told her classmates how “her baby brother is coming.” Mrs. V. is well aware of what my due date is, and told me how excited Ane was.
Then Ane ran up to me, all [...]

Still here…

Rerun is definitely going to be a March baby. We’ve made it to March!
Last night, I turned Ane’s Princess calendar to March (she went from Sleeping Beauty to Belle). “In the morning is March?” she asked excitedly.
“Yes. The baby will be born sometime this month.”
“WHEN??? TOMORROW???”
I shrugged. “I have no [...]

Growth

I draw the line at plumber’s crack.
It was okay if Ane’s jeans were a smidgen short at the ankles. When she started having to be told constantly – through no fault of her own – to keep hitching up her jeans, I knew it was time to go clothes shopping.
As part of my continuing [...]

Ane Speaks – Choices

We bought our minivan when Tad was just shy of a year old, so we’ve never had an infant car seat in there before. Since the minivan is our primary family vehicle, that’s obviously where it’s going to be. Since Tad still rides in a 5-point harness car seat (not that he truly [...]

Nesting

I am slowly but surely tackling those items on my list of “things to do before Rerun arrives.”
Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa came over Monday with the basinette. This is a family tradition – and probably too old to be considered “safe” anymore, but three generations have slept in it. Ane loves hearing the list [...]

Kid Talk

We finally got together with Friend and Doc on Sunday night, after a crazy few weeks. They had company in town, Friend was playing her fingers off with different performances, Doc had a major lecture to present at the university that he teaches at, and the Brain and Head had drama camp all last [...]
