Things I had forgotten

I’m back after a couple weeks off getting used to Baby Boy Munchkin. During that time, I discovered that there were many things that I had forgotten about having a newborn around. The Munchkin is such a little girl now, that her “baby” days are far behind her.

So, a quick list of things that I’ve had to relearn about having an infant:
1) Sleeping in blocks of three hours or less.
2) Lanolin – the nursing mom’s best friend.
3) Feeling like I have nuclear warheads strapped to my chest.
4) Always have the burp cloth nearby.
5) Don’t change the baby until after he’s done eating – there could always be more behind that last rumble down below.

Here’s a list of things that I’d forgotten while I was pregnant:
1) How to sleep on my stomach and back.
2) How nice it is not to have to go to the bathroom every hour.
3) Having a waistline.
4) No more swelling in hands or feet – my shoes now fit much better.
5) Look at all the clothes I can wear now!

And the best things about having a newborn:
1) Tiny hands and feet.
2) Furrowed brows.
3) Watching him dream about eating and seeing his mouth move.
4) Cuddling him while he’s sleeping.
5) The clean baby smell – especially after a bath.

There are tons of other things that I could list, but I’ll save them for another day. I will have to do my blogging in the evenings now – the Munchkins eat up my mornings whole and want more. Thank God for highchairs and Sesame Street. But it’s good to be back.
