Cold Snap and Other Notes

It is cold here.

The current temperature outside is somewhere around 25 degrees. It’s a good thing that I haven’t pruned the hydrangea bush yet – it has to be done after all the freezing temperatures stop.

We have a box of Duraflame logs and wood by the back door, and our wood stove is fired up, producing enough ambient heat to keep the heaters from kicking in. I even put a onesie under the Munchkin’s fleece pajamas. Actually, both the kids are wearing fleece jammies. The heat in their rooms is at a nice, comfortable temperature, and hopefully they will be warm all through the night.

As heard around the house…
The Munchkin: (looking at her brother and pointing) Mommy, dat’s a baby boy!
Me: And what are you?
The Munchkin: Two.

Friend called to tell me that my stamp camp order is in! We had a camp at her house last Saturday, where I bit the bullet and bought… the new watercolor crayons! I can’t wait to try them out! I only bought two stamp sets, though it is Sell-a-bration time and I ended up with three free sets. But I also bought a couple of gifts, “Crystal Effects” liquid, micro beads, brads, and two ink pads. Friend let me pick the hostess set this time (another level 2 set), and we ordered a ton of paper with the hostess credit. It was a good camp. I get to pick up everything on Friday – we’ll let the kids play and we’ll experiment with all our new stuff.

And I realize that if you’re not aware of Stampin’ Up, then this last paragraph made no sense to you.

In layman’s terms: I spent a lot of money on rubber stamps and accessories for with which to make cards, as is my wont. But it was Christmas/Everyday Hogwash money, so it’s okay with the Webmaster.

As heard in the car after kissing the Webmaster good-bye (he had his own car to drive home after Wednesday night activities)…
The Munchkin: Mommy, you kiss Daddy!

I have five rolls of film to put in my photo albums. Yikes! I got some of Christmas in there, but I knew that I wanted to get some photos from my mom and Auntie, since they got some shots of things that I didn’t. It’s hard to take pictures when you’re helping one kid open presents, opening presents for the one who has barely discovered his hands, and opening your own while your husband videotapes the whole scene. So I managed to do a photo swap with them, plus I got a couple of nice ones that Little Cousin’s Mommy so graciously sent, and I think I can get the whole kit and caboodle in albums this weekend. And if I’m really lucky, scan the highlights so they can eventually go to the photo gallery.

As heard at church…
Me: (chasing the Munchkin with her coat) Get your coat on right now!
The Munchkin: (allowing herself to be caught) Okay, okay!

Baby Boy turned six months old last Sunday. He has two little teeth and the most adorable smile. I took him to get his six month pictures done, and he was in a fantastic mood and just smiled for everything. That kid nearly bankrupted me, I’m telling you. Actually, it wasn’t that bad, but I did have to renew our Portrait Club Card. It was two years ago that I first took the Munchkin to have her six week portraits done. And then I had to have them re-done a week and a half later because the film had a major flaw that caused them to lose the entire roll. I know how rare that is, because I used to work at this particular photo studio, and only twice did we lose a sitting to bad film, and that was just individual sittings, not an entire roll (which could potentially hold up to 30). But the retakes were good, and I was very thankful that I was not the family who had gotten family pictures done before the dad shipped out to Iraq and had now lost their photos. That put things in perspective, let me tell you.

Anyway, his pictures were great, I renewed the card (which means no sitting fees for another 2 years), and I’m still very glad that I don’t work there anymore.

As heard at bedtime…
The Munchkin: Mommy, I wanna hug. (hug) Oh, Mommy, I love you.

Happy Birthday to the Webmaster’s Dad! I won’t say how old he is, but I would advise hiding from your sisters-in-law today. Just a friendly suggestion. 🙂
