I want drugs!!!

This last weekend went pretty well, except for one major problem.

Somewhere along the line, Baby Boy caught a sniffle and has shared it with me.

His symptoms have been rather mild – runny nose and slightly crankier than usual. It seems that I’m worse off than he is. The Munchkin is currently fine, but the Webmaster is saying that he doesn’t feel so great, either. And Friend is feeling some of the same stuff, so we may have shared with her, too.

At least they can all take something. I can’t!

Just a couple of decongestants would solve most of my problems… but I can’t touch them. Not unless I want a baby spun up on some kind of crack high. Those meds would go straight into my milk and get fed directly to Baby Boy, and he would just be miserable.

How do I know this? I tried taking decongestants while I was breastfeeding the Munchkin. Within six hours, she was bouncing off walls, crying uncontrollably, and even if I held her it didn’t do any good. It happened twice, and by the second time, we had figured out what the problem was.

Needless to say, I don’t want to repeat that particular experience again. I’d rather live through this misery than inflict that on my sweet little boy who’s teething again anyway, and doesn’t need any more problems while he gets rid of this cold.

In the meantime, my nose is plugged, I can only hear out of one ear, and my head feels like it weighs a ton. All this and I am supposed to take Auntie on her annual belated birthday shopping trip today! She’s out of school for the week, and we will have to take both kids with us, because the Webmaster does not get Presidents’ Day off.

And to top it all off, my hands are cracked and dry. Grrr.

On the happy side of things, I actually finished a six-star sudoku puzzle! It took a little guesswork, but I got it done! At least some part of my brain is working properly.

Now if that ibuprofen could just start working properly…
