What He Was Thinking

This the actual internal monologue that Baby Boy had this afternoon before his nap.

Where is Mommy going with Big Sister? And why are you leaving me here in the highchair?!? I’m out of Cheerios – oh, wait, there they are. Never mind, Mom!

Hey, I bet that Big Sister’s going down for her nap! That means that I can play with all of her toys… as soon as Mommy gets me down from here. Umm, Cheerios.

That must have been a short book, because Mommy’s coming this way. Hey, Mommy! MOMMY! I want to get down and play! NO, I DON’T WANT MY FACE WASHED!

Okay, now she’s getting me down. What do you mean, I need a diaper change? I smell milk… Can I get a snack? To wash down those Cheerios? Hey, that tickles! Okay, I’m clean now, so I’d like my drinks now, please!

Umm, umm, umm…

(burp)

I’d like to play now. I don’t want to nap! Okay, she’s going to put me down… toys! Ha ha! In your face, Big Sister! Look, I’m touching your cell phone! I’m chewing on your books! I’m drooling on your tea set!

Hey… where’s Mommy? There she is – she’s at the kitchen table doing a sudoku puzzle. C’mon, woman, it’s a 2-star! Speed it up here! Come play with me!

I bet I can pull myself up onto the couch. See? Look, I’m standing! And I’m holding my burp cloth! Little Cousin thinks she’s so smart – ha!

Where’s Mommy? MOMMY! Oh, brother, she’s commenting on The Blogfathers. AGAIN! Mommy, come here! MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY MOMMY!

Here she comes! She’s picking me up… the computer? You mean you weren’t done yet? Can I type? No? Not even the space bar? Come on, please?

She can type pretty well with one hand. If I shift this way, I bet she can balance me in her lap and use both hands. There. See, Mommy? Oh, thank you for the kiss.

You know, this is comfy. And the sound of the keys is quite lulling. Where’s my thumb? Oh, that’s right, it’s on my hand. Tasty. Chewy. Mmmm.

I think Mommy may be rocking me in the chair. That’s okay. I’ll just sit here and help her read these blogs.

Why are my eyes still open? I think I’ll close them for a while. Reading blogs is hard for me… (yawn)

Mommy, do you mind if I drool on your arm? Okay, thanks.

Zzzzz…
