More hodgepodge

Tad woke up at 7:30 am yesterday morning – highly unusual for him. The Munchkin is generally my early riser, and then she has to wait until her brother wakes up. The strange part was that his wake-up cry turned into a full-blown wail very quickly. It wasn’t a “Mommy, come get me” cry, it was a distress call.

I went and got his morning bottle, early as it was for him, recognizing that he wasn’t going to go back to sleep with that kind of wailing going on. When I walked in, Tad was standing in his crib, sobbing his little eyes out, clutching the crib rail…

… and his bunny blanket was laying on the floor of his room, well out of his reach.

I picked up the bunny blanket (it’s the one listed as Ittybit’s Best Friend Buddy, and was a gift from his great-grandma – Little Cousin has the pink one), then picked him up out of the crib, wiped his eyes and handed him his bottle. I changed his diaper as he greedily sucked down all 5 ounces of his bottle. Then we went out to the living room and snuggled together on the couch. He was still clutching his bunny. We just watched the sun rise some more (our living room window faces directly east), and with a full tummy, a dry diaper, his bunny back in his arms and cuddled up with Mommy, he fell back asleep for another hour. When he woke up, the Munchkin was already awake and watching Mr. Rogers, and I had been enjoying the extra snuggle time.

Dare I say this? Will I jinx myself?

The Munchkin is within an arm’s reach of being fully potty trained.

We still have the occasional accident, but they are becoming rarer and rarer. She is wearing panties full-time, even out of the house, only wearing Pull-Ups at night and at naptime. And frankly, I can’t remember the last time she woke up wet from a nap. Nighttime is another hurdle, but that can wait.

She is just doing so spectacularly well. And – get this – she’s even getting the hang of putting herself on the potty!!! We tell her to put her potty seat on the toilet, and she does that, gets her stepstool to get up to the toliet easily, and gets her pants and panties down by herself sometimes. We are usually right behind her, but she is starting to really take this in hand!

Thank you, Elmo. (gag)

I have finally done what I have been promising myself I would do for years.

I have kicked my ER habit.

I watched the first two episodes this season to see how last season’s cliffhanger turned out, and then that was it. I can’t take it anymore. I should be watching less TV anyway.

Besides, Battlestar Galactica premeires TONIGHT!!!!!

I got a letter in the mail from Stampin’ Up earlier this week. Then I made an emergency phone call to Friend. “I have a problem and I need your advice,” I told her.

“What’s going on?”

“I just found out that I earned two free stamp sets from Stampin’ Up and I’m not sure what to get!!!”

She started laughing. “You are so funny.”

Oh, yeah – and the best part is… no price limit. I could pick whichever two sets I wanted for free.

I ordered them yesterday and they’ll be here next week. I consider it my birthday present from Stampin’ Up. (Actually, I earned them in a sales program for new demonstrators, but I had forgotten all about it, so I’m enjoying the surprise and the payoff.)

That sounded like a lovely way to start your day – watching the sunrise while snuggling your Little Tad.
Munchkin is doing so well with her potty training! I haven’t even began to think about starting Dustbunny off on that big adventure yet!
Hope you enjoy your new stamping kits. Which reminds me, I have 2 birthday cards to make for tomorrow!

ER, in my opinion, “jumped the shark” when Mark Green died — 4 years ago, end of season 8. After that, it’s just been a continual train wreck (which we are only now tearing ourselves away from). Battlestar r0x0r j00! w00t!

    Praise wife for industriousness!

I agree with the Webmaster on ER, once Goose died from cancer in his F-16 that was the end. I an anxious to see how Battlestar season 3 begins. I just bought the Haji version of Sopranos season 6 and Prison Break, so between my books I have some DVD watching to do. You sound very busy. BTW, after looking over your Book meme I recommend some non-fiction historical reading.
