Welcome back, Belle!

Belle and her mommy arrived last night, and I picked them up from the airport. I left the kids with Auntie, my Dad was working, my Mom was at a choir rehearsal, and the Webmaster had stayed late at work. So I was by myself, and only had to wait a short while before they appeared at baggage claim.

I had not seen my little niece since early July, and she’s become a crawler since then. She’s also gotten bigger, but I’m used to lugging around 23 pounds of Tad, so Belle didn’t feel that heavy. She was willing to be held by me almost immediately, but wanted to go back to her mommy after a little bit. But when the luggage started arriving, my sister-in-law handed her back to me, and she must have felt comfortable enough by then, because she snuggled down into my arms and rested. Her mommy said that “this is when people love to hold her, when she’s quiet and cuddly.”

I felt so lucky to have the chance to get the first cuddle. She fell asleep on the way to my parents’ house, but woke up when her mommy took her out of her car seat. The Munchkin was thrilled to see her and wanted to play, but it was everyone’s bedtime – actually, well past bedtime for Belle, who is on Central time – and we left soon after.

This is going to be a fun and busy week!
