We need to work on sports terms

We hadn’t seen Friend, Doc, the Brain or Head in a few weeks – I think since just before Thanksgiving – because our weekends have just been insane. So Friend brought the boys over for lunch yesterday, and the Munchkin was thrilled to see her playmates again.

She insisted on playing baseball with the Brain with her baby Fisher-Price T-ball stuff – the ball and small bat – and an old promotional souvenir mitt that I got back in the 80’s at a Mariners game, which I’m letting the kids play with. She had the mitt on her left hand (she’s a rightie), and was trying to toss the ball to the Brain, who had the bat.

After several pitches and misses, the Brain made contact with the ball.

“Good job, Brain!” the Munchkin cheered.

“Touchdown!” the Brain yelled.

Hey, at least it wasn’t your kid . . . this time.

Brain’s just excited that the Gators are going to play for the National Championship is all.

Since the M’s seem to be content to trade a potential closer for a back-of-rotation replacement-level starter, we’re thinking we might as well introduce him to the idea of winning something, even if he must chance sports to do so.
