Movie night

The Webmaster and I hired Auntie last night, tucked in Tad and waved good night to Ane, and then we headed over to the movie theater to see “Evan Almighty.” I needed a feel-good movie to see, and this one was definitely funny and provided lots of laughs. Yeah, the plot was cheesy and predictable, but Steve Carell is just hilarious and I really liked it. Ignore the critics who hated it, because while it isn’t a grand masterpiece of cinema, you will leave with a smile on your face and having shared a few laughs. People actually applauded at the end of the movie last night.

Actually, we’ve been trying to get out more recently without the kids. I love them. I really do. But I spend all day, every day with them, and the Webmaster wants to have time away from them as well. So I actually consipired with Friend over a week ago to have a date night – she and Doc owed us a baby-sitting night – and I didn’t tell the Webmaster about it until he got home from work. I had told him the night before to be home on time, because “Friend and I have plans.” To my amazement, he simply said, “Okay.” Later, he asked what he and Doc were going to do, and I assured him that we had taken care of everything.

My plan was to go somewhere where we don’t want to take the kids, so we went to Nara, the restaurant in Redmond that we went to on our first date. It was just as good as we remembered (we hadn’t been there in almost 2 years), and it was so nice to enjoy a dinner without having to wipe chins, refill sippy cups, coax a unenthusiastic toddler to eat, or tell someone to be quiet or they will have to have a time-out in the car. I recommend it to all parents out there – go have a date night.

In fact, Auntie is looking for some extra cash for softball camp and basketball camp and church camp this summer, so she’s more than happy to baby-sit. I will be taking full advantage of this, but anyone else out there looking for a sitter? She needs the money. In fact, she spent the night here and is being a mother’s helper today for an extra wage. I guess I’d better take advantage of that now instead of blogging.

Tad’s closet awaits me.
