Ane Speaks – she has figured something out

Ane and I are planning a special project… with Grandma’s assistance, of course.

Dolly needs a new dress for church. She has three – four, if you count her jean jumper. The problem is that two of those dresses match dresses that we made for Ane, and apparently, Dolly cannot wear her matching dress if Ane is not.

So we took a trip during a big fabric sale to our local JoAnn Fabrics. I bought a pattern several months ago for Dolly that had several dress options, so Ane got to pick out a pretty calico print to make a new dress for Dolly. She picked a lavender flower print with green leaf accents on a white background. It will look very cute with some lace accents and maybe a ribbon or two.

Tad, however, got fed up with all this shopping for fabric. Even though I was plying him with some mini Teddy Grahams, he wanted Mommy’s attention. He was tugging at my hand, whining loudly, wanting out of the cart – generally, just being a pill.

Finally, I kissed his forehead and took his face in my hands so he would look directly at me. “Tad, what is the matter with you?” I asked, both sympathetic and exasperated with him.

Ane had an answer. “He’s a boy,” she piped up.

She’ll be here all weekend, folks.
