If it’s Seafair, then…

There are only two possible options for weather in Seattle the first weekend in August. It is Seafair weekend, which means it will either be broiling hot, or pouring rain. There really isn’t much in between.

Given what’s going on outside right now, the Mariners will need to close the roof when they play the Red Sox tonight. It is steadily drizzling. Ane looked sadly out the window at the big toy and said, “The slide is all wet. We can’t go outside.”

So, here we are, indoors, waiting for Sesame Street and drying our laundry in the dryer. I made the kids a hot breakfast to compensate, but there is a definite let-down in the air. They were playing in the pool yesterday, running around outside in nothing but their bathing suits and happy as clams. I had to go outside this morning to dump rainwater out of their pool.

What will we do today?

Ideas, anyone? What should I do with two toddlers on a rainy summer day?

Actually, working downtown as I do, and within a few blocks of Qwest and Safeco Fields, I can attest that it’s actually quite overcast and not drizzling.

I think we got the worst of the marine-front-poop up north. We’re all dry down here on the waterfront. I bet you a foot-rub the roof will be open tonight.

You could move to Sunny San Diego!
