Ane Speaks – movie edition

We either let our daughter watch too many movies, or she’s got a terrific memory. Actually, it’s a little bit of both.

For example, if we say to her “I’ve got you,” when we’re getting her down from somewhere or helping her regain her balance, she has been known to say:

“You’ve got me? Who’s got YOU?!?”

That was funny, but she’s started saying one that’s even better. Or worse, depending on your point of view.

She is fully aware of Tad’s injury, and what he’s supposed to be doing versus what he’s not supposed to be doing, AND she’s trying to make sure that he doesn’t get away with anything that she deems inappropriate – like taking toys out of her room, for instance.

As soon as she sees him doing something that she decides is “wrong,” she yells:

“23-19! We have a 23-19!!”

At the top of her lungs.

The Webmaster heard her say this last night (in front of our friends A. and C., who kindly brought us dinner and spent the evening with us), and he was laughing so hard that he was snorting and had to leave the room to compose himself.

Now I’m not sure if those read-alongs were a good thing or a bad thing.

[…] Not long ago, Tad decided that our windowsill needed a little color – green crayon, to be precise. Ane saw this (naturally, she ratted him out with a “23-19″ call), and then scolded him firmly for breaking the “house rules.” […]
