Updates

First off, both the blogs I listed yesterday – Matthew’s and Jen’s – are reporting today that things have improved. Matthew says the worst is past for him, and they weren’t evacuated, and Jen is sitting tight at the moment, but is still at home.

The whole event is devastating. There aren’t many things that compare with the horror of losing one’s home and everything in it to fire. I can’t even imagine what the families of southern CA are going to have to live through. If you can, please find a way to help.

Second, Little Mo is much improved, and we are very thankful.

Around here, we have the rain that is so desperately needed in California, and Ane and Tad’s coughs are slowly subsiding. Ane’s new favorite book is Olivia Helps With Christmas, which arrived Monday from Barnes & Noble (along with several Christmas gifts – I was shopping online while I was confined to the house with the sick kids). Tad is saying “stop” and “go” quite regularly, and his usual sunny personality is making a big comeback after being so sick last week.

And I have a sink full of dishes and a basket full of clothes to iron. I guess I should get on that. While I keep an eye on the news to watch the progress of the firefighters, that is.
