Lesson learned!

Okay, I get it.

Don’t blog about funny children. Don’t blog about child with attitude after no nap. Don’t blog about children not using the toilet.

Blog about American Idol, and you will get COMMENTS.

I get it now!!

Just kidding. But let’s get the Idol debriefing out of the way, shall we?

The girls are going to be much harder to judge than the guys. There’s more of a focus on personality and back story with them, plus the fact that they seem to be more talented as a group than the guys this year. Still, I can see chaff that needs winnowing out.

Amy is the first to go. When all that even Paula can say is that “you look great and the camera loves you,” then you are officially OUT in a SINGING contest.

After that, I’m not sure. There were weaker performances by other girls, but now we’re getting into the cult of personality. I think it might be Joanne, though I will admit that I missed Kristy’s performance completely (turned TV on at 8:14 and was not caching Fox on the DVR). On recaps she seemed to do okay, though the “I’m sick!” excuse was well overdone. Kady also turned in a weaker performance, but her impersonation skills might pull her through.

Any opinions are welcomed, and you know where to leave them.

On the child front…

Tad 1, Potty 0. No luck so far.

Ane 0, Mommy 1. Attitude after playing with Handy Baby instead of napping in the afternoon was quickly quashed by two consecutive time-outs once Handy Girl and Handy Baby left. Further proof that she is not yet ready to give up her nap is not needed.

Funny children 1, Parents 1. Parents still hold upper hand on finding ticklish spots, while children can bring smile to face by presenting parent with entire box of cookies swiped from counter and then begging, “A kie? A kie? Peeeese?”

(No, he did not get the cookie. But he’s getting awfully smart about dragging a chair or a stool around to reach stuff on the counter. No, this is not good.)

Oops! Yesterday, I (Resiss) posted under Oddball’s name. I need to get him to stop using my computer.

You’re right about Amy: she chose a country song and she doesn’t have a country voice. It was painful to listen to.

Call me insensitive, but I’m sick of Joanne whining about “plus-size women never getting a chance in the music business.” Tell that to Aretha! I don’t even consider Joanne all that “plus-size” and she used to be a plus-size MODEL, so she’s obviously had success in life BECAUSE of her size. I think she’s just trying to find her “sob story.” Sob stories are bigger this season than ever.

No, I will not comment on Idol. Saw it all, though.
I wouldn’t have been able to resist “a-kee peeeese.”
I am reading the CUTEST picture book of Howl’s Moving Castle. Loaned to me by Alexandria.

Well, the right people got voted off the first week. There are some more guys that need to go but the girls will be interesting.

And I have to laugh because our kids are living in parallel universes. TheMonk has learned he can drag the stool anywhere and get stuff he couldn’t get before. Now I have to stop my habit of leaving kitchen knives sitting on our counters.
