Tad’s Favorite Moments

All my regular readers know that Tad is a devoted Cars fan. His favorite car? Lightning McQueen, of course!

So imagine his delight when we watched the Pixar Play Parade at California Adventure and the first thing (and the “grand marshal” of the parade) to come down the street was this:

Tad thought he had died and gone to heaven. He kept yelling, “A-Keen! A-Keen!” (Tad-speak for “McQueen”), and yes, we have it on videotape.

The other thing that he loved and we got on video was the Bountiful Valley Farm at CA Adventure, which is just inside “a bug’s land” and has an irrigation-style water play area. We literally dragged Tad out of there kicking and screaming, even though his lips were blue and his teeth were chattering. And it was one of the days when I didn’t have a change of clothes for the kids on me, which would have been very handy. I kept a change of clothes in the backpack from that point on.

And, of course, every time we passed through Downtown Disney and walked by the World of Disney store (which was a GREAT place to shop), Tad had to stop and take a good look at his favorite window:

Each picture window was themed around a character (example: Mickey), a line concept (example: Princesses), or a movie (example: Cars). Tad would not let us pass by peacefully until he had pointed out all of his favorite characters, and then said good-bye to them all.

Note how spectacularly unimpressed his sister is. Ane preferred the Princess window – but, better yet, she preferred shopping inside the store.

And I don’t know what it is about this boy and Pixar movies, but his favorite ride was easily the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage, though he did enjoy both Buzz Lightyear’s Astro Blasters and the new Toy Story Midway Mania rides. Oh, and Casey Junior. We got to sit in the monkey cage twice, and he loved riding on a train. So did Ane.

I would really love to take Tad back in a couple of years, after he’s been in school and done some intensive speech therapy work. I can’t imagine how different he will be then.

You know, Little Cousin is in love with the Pixar movies too. What is it about the “twins” that they have SO much in common?
