OTHER kids say…

It’s not like my own kids haven’t produced a few verbal gems in their time. However, today’s is courtesy of another child.

Libby, who is a little neighbor girl of Grandma and Gichan’s, is almost two. Grandma watches her at least three days a week, most of the time, so she sees Ane and Tad often. Libby’s emerging verbal skills remind me of Ane’s. She’s quite expressive, but is still learning how to phrase things and learning new words all the time. Still, she’s very capable of getting her point across.

Yesterday, Grandma made scones, which Ane and Tad immediately began asking for bites of, along with raisin bread, cheese – anything that was out. It was close to lunchtime, and food always tastes better at Grandma’s house.

Libby is quite a little mooch herself, so as soon as she saw the other kids getting bits of things, she knew where to go. “Mommy! Mommy!” She calls Grandma “Mommy” right now – eventually, she will start calling her “Grandma” because she hears the other kids saying it, but right now, she’s Mommy. “Mommy, bite me! A-bite me!”

I know she meant “I want a bite,” but I could not stop laughing every time I heard that tiny, piping voice say, “Bite me!”

Fortunately, it went right over Ane and Tad’s heads. Which is a good thing.

And in “other kid” news, happy first birthday, Auletta! It looks like you enjoyed your cake… 🙂

Thank you! Yeah, she takes after her mom with regard to cake.
