Cookie Marathon

I was able to deliver a small plate of cookies yesterday to our children’s librarian. Every time we do something like this for her, she just shakes her head and says, “How do you find the time?”

I have no idea.

So far, the Peppermint Snowballs, Gingerbread Bears (easily the most time consuming cookie) and Butter Spritz are done. I have also made White Chocolate Cherry Chunkies – which I took the “chunky” out of (the recipe called for macadamia nuts and I am making all the cookies nut-free this Christmas for Baby Cousin’s sake – minus a couple that use almond extract, but I know which ones those are), but only one batch of fudge. I need to make more, as I’ve already given over half of it away, and most of that to Obachan (who has a huge sweet tooth).

I have other cookies I want to make, and I need to make mint fudge – I was so excited to find mint chocolate chips again! – but at least I know I can put together a pretty enough plate of cookies without making any more, if necessary. But I can now indulge my love of baking, because the last of the Christmas cards are out (aside from a few here and there, if we hear from certain people), the last of the presents are ordered (I still have a few to get here, but that’s a shopping trip, not an online order) and we might be stuck at home today if more snow falls.

And in the middle of this cookie baking marathon, Ressis, Little Cousin and Baby Cousin will be arriving! Hopefully the snow holds off long enough – or is light enough – to get them here on time. I can’t wait to see them. The Gingerbread Bears are waiting for them.

We have 8 or 9 inches, and snowing steadily this morning. Brrrrr!
    I sometimes wish i was a librarian again…
