Another fortune cookie message

Ane picked up another fortune cookie on Monday at Top Foods. They keep a large basket of them at the “Orient Express” deli counter. They’ve actually got some very decent Chinese takeout there. The sushi is questionable, but I’m a spoiled sushi brat. Nothing tastes right unless it was made by Obachan.

Anyway, Ane’s new fortune was this: “People are waiting for cues from you. Lead them well.”

When I read this to her, she screwed up her face in puzzlement. “What does that mean, Mommy?”

I smiled and said, “It means, People are watching you, so behave.”

Her next expression was priceless. Drat.

She’s not having any luck with her fortune cookies at the moment.
