It’s official…

I no longer care who wins American Idol this year.

With both Danny and Allison gone, I have no vested interest in the finale, so I will be skipping it.

I’m disappointed that Danny was eliminated, but, as I pointed out to the Webmaster, he now can pretty much do his own album without conforming to the Idol template once the summer tour is over and whoever wins puts out their own album first.

The bottom line is, I don’t like either Adam or Kris as a singer, and I wouldn’t probably buy either of their albums. Now, I know tons of people will, but I won’t be. So, after a pretty interesting and tight season, I am officially declaring myself out.

In other news, Ane has graduated from the Cubbies program at church. Come next fall, she will officially be a Sparky – along with Little Mo and Lina. She will enjoy it, but it’s kind of sad for me to see her go. She’s growing up so fast.

Tad, however, will be in Cubbies for two more years, so I will still have plenty to keep my hands full with come next year.

It’s too bad there even had to be a winner this year. Such talent, especially in the final four! I haven’t voted because I really had no favorite. And I will watch because I enjoy the format. It’s entertainment; so much more than anything else I’ve found on TV.

Actually, Adam has disappointed in the last few weeks for me. I think he messed up “One” around the middle of the song by burying its essential crescendo and just did his usual scratchy wail that is seeming normal and getting old to me. I think Danny’s performance on his own song was one of the best pure vocals ever, but it got overshadowed by Adam … don’t get me wrong, I like Adam plenty but he’s starting to wear and look repetitive to me. But he’s gonna win, and we’ll see what his album looks like.

Kris doesn’t even make enough of an impression on me for me to distinctly remember a single performance of his. That’s what disappoints me most … that next week will be so much of someone very very good … but ultimately pretty similar to a lot of other things I’ve heard and seen. Oh, well, that’s TV for you.

Did I mention that the Season 5 Finale of Lost did not disappoint? 🙂
