Ane Speaks – goal setting

Our children’s ministries coordinator at church provides donuts every Sunday morning for the Sunday School teachers. She knows my parents well, and makes sure that they get their favorites – my dad, especially. He likes apple fritters.

Ane and Tad have figured out that Gichan has donuts that he is willing to share on Sunday mornings, and often there are leftovers when services are over. Then Tad will go begging to his Gichan, “Pleese, Chani? Pleese, Chani?”

Once he finally says what he wants (a part of his speech therapy that we’re working on at the moment), Dad usually shares a part of his donut with both Ane and Tad.

After eating her small share last Sunday (hey, she hasn’t had lunch yet – she’s lucky she gets any donut at all), Ane looked at me seriously and said, “Someday, when I grow up, I’m going to be a Sunday School teacher, so I can have a whole donut.”

A girl’s gotta have goals.

Great, now I want a donut.

And Little Cousin is having a good birthday (other than the doctor’s visits all morning).
