Weekend Block

This weekend kind of passed in a blur for us.

We took a day trip on Saturday to the Webmaster’s hometown for his aunt’s graduation party. She walked on Friday with Centralia Community College, but had an open house party at her home on Saturday. We told Nana and Papa that we were coming, but they kept it a secret from Aunt Lynda. We surprised her pretty well, I think.

Ane and Tad, however, presented with an unfamiliar house and yard, immediately went on a mini-rampage while the Webmaster caught up with his cousins. Within one hour, Tad was completely soaked down his front after he almost flung himself into the water fountain in the backyard. Within two hours, both kids were digging in potting soil in a wheelbarrow. At the end of three hours, Tad needed a full change of clothes and Ane needed a dry shirt.

Fortunately, everyone else thought they were hilarious. And they had a good time playing with their second cousin D., who is three years older than Ane – but they didn’t even notice that.

Both kids fell asleep on the way home, but didn’t nap long. We managed to get them to bed early, but when we woke up on Sunday morning, the Webmaster found Tad asleep on the living room couch. The Webmaster thinks that Tad might have gotten up in the middle of the night and banged on his door long enough for the Webmaster to let him out, but he’s not really sure. All we know is that Tad was fast asleep on the couch with his “blunkly” and bunny, after apparently getting into the refrigerator and drinking a full glass of milk that was leftover from dinner.

The boy is sneaking drinks behind our backs.

After church on Sunday, we ended up taking Auntie shopping with us at Fred Meyer. After she picked up a new pair of sport sunglasses (her old ones broke, and she has a tournament to play next weekend with her select softball team), she entertained Ane and Tad near the books and patio furniture while the Webmaster and I did our shopping.

The Webmaster wanted to know if we could borrow Auntie to go shopping with us all the time.

Then we had dinner at Friend and Doc’s, and the kids were insane as usual. However, Tad found a fishing pole that they had been looking for – it belongs to a game that they were trying to find all the pieces to. Doc then gave Tad a list of other things that have been misplaced around the house that he could also find for them.

Rupert was adorable and drooly. I got him to giggle for me.

Today starts Tad’s last week of school before summer vacation. I have no idea what I am going to do when both kids are at home, looking at the Webmaster and me and saying, “We’re BORED.”

I’d better start making some plans.

It was great fun watching the cousins playing together. The fountain is just the right height for kids (for better or for worse). Judging by the frequent outbursts of laughter coming from the sunroom, I think the big cousins had a good time also!

I know the “We’re bored” look. I think my kids give it to me every day since their daddy’s gone (he’s the fun one, I guess).

And you might want to watch out about Tad sneaking drinks. That can only lead to no where good.

So did Tad sneak the strong stuff (I assume that would be the 2% milk).

Sat. was a lot of fun! Had a great time with you guys. And it was way less an hour before Tad was one with the fountain. 🙂 I’m glad the cousins got some time to play.

What a special time! I truly was surprised to see such a turn out. I didn’t get to see the kids play nearly enough.
