Biker Kids
In our constant struggle to wear the kids out each and every day this summer, it’s nice to know that other parents fight the good fight. Ane and Tad spent a good chunk of last Saturday with Big Jay and Little Mo, both in their backyard playing in the pool (and on the trampoline) and riding bikes after dinner.
Tad actually kept his helmet on for a change (something he learned he had to do at school), and instead of doing his Fred Flintstone thing, he was actually pedaling his trike!
He was doing really well! Ane, of course, needs a larger bike – and needs to learn to ride without training wheels – but that doesn’t stop her from speeding around our cul-de-sac.
Speeding around with friends is even better.
Little Mo’s mom had been out garage sale hunting that morning, and both of my kids were eager to play with one of her new finds – a pedal go-kart with an adjustable seat, so that kids of different heights can use it.
With the weather being so hit-and-miss – it’s either blazingly hot or raining and cold – our summer days have been a mixture of activities best suited to the weather. But I’m telling you, I like these days when the kids have completely worn themselves out by bedtime – with a little help from their friends.

“Blazingly hot”? You don’t know blazingly hot until you’ve been unpacking your household goods in 109 degree weather with no AC on one floor.
