The Amazing Potty Adventure

Tad is making HUGE strides in his potty training. I’m almost ready to say that he’s completely trained.

The caveat is, he has to be buck naked from the waist down.

The amount of control he has when he is naked is amazing. He will take himself potty on the little toddler training potty and simply GO. There’s no bribing to stay put (though he will occasionally ask for his toys), no coaxing, no… nothing. He just walks in, goes, and then announces to the whole world that “I go in da POTTY!”

Yesterday was shocking. He was dry the whole day. Granted, he spent most of it naked, but the second we got home from wherever we had been, he was still dry. He was dry through his nap yesterday – which he was wearing a diaper for, because we aren’t that brave yet – and when he woke up, we left his diaper on him.

When he needed to go, he actually stripped it off and went instead of using the diaper.

There aren’t words enough to say how thrilled we are. Diapers, training pants, underwear – they’ve all been a safety net for Tad. He’s never minded getting them wet before, because he’d just strip ’em off and ask for clean ones. With being naked, that safety net has been gone and he’s been so in control of himself. But to actually take off a diaper to use the potty – it’s huge. Really huge.

And we are so proud of him.
