He will drive me to drink someday
Despite Ane’s warning about drinking during pregnancy (and thank you for the kind wishes, everyone!), I think that Tad might drive me to the bottle sooner rather than later.
Before picking Ane up from school yesterday, Tad and I went grocery shopping. As a side note, Tad is really really really wanting to get on a bus and go to school himself. And I really really really can’t wait for Monday to send him. And I hope they contact us soon about it.
Anyway, Tad insisted on a “car cart” – the behemoth with a little driving car attached to a severely unbalanced cart – and then was popping in and out of it, checking everything in the store out and keeping up a running commentary. “Mama, wook, FISH! Mama, wook, ANANAS! (bananas) Mama, wook, APPLES!”
(Must keep repeating mantra: “I wanted you to talk. I wanted you to talk.”)
When it was time to check out, do you think Tad could stay in one place – with me? HA!
As I was paying for our groceries, Tad discovered a gigantic cardboard box – easily 5 feet square – that was half full with large, bouncy, brightly colored play balls. It was at the front of the store, near the customer service desk.
Tad dragged a chair over to the box, climbed up, and jumped into the box. “Mama! I in da BALL PIT!”
The checker cracked up. The guy servicing the coffee machine next to the ball box said, “I wish I had a camera.” The girl at the customer service desk was giving me dirty looks.
As soon as I was done, I pulled him out of the box. “Kid, you are going to get us kicked out of this store,” I growled.
Like he cared. It was one of the most fun things he’d done all day.
And I need to find a safe way to self-medicate. NOW.

Its a large box of balls at a grocery store. If they did not want anyone to mess with it than they need to put it away. I say jump in.

Try this mantra: He will leave for college, He will leave for college.
