He Might Be Hungry

Tad has not been sleeping through the night very well. I mean, worse than usual.

We finally put a spinner lock on the knob of Ane’s door so he couldn’t get in there at night, and he’s been avoiding the couch. With the weather getting chillier, the living room isn’t as cozy at night as it used to be. I have been dressing him in warmer pajamas to help offset that, but he’s back to trying to climb in with the Webmaster and me at night.

First, he tried curling up at the foot of our bed. Imagine my shock when I got up to use the bathroom in the middle of the night and my foot made contact with a fuzzy head.

Recently, since he knows he’s going to be kicked off of the bed, he’s been sleeping on the floor in our room – or there was the one night that the Webmaster found him in the hallway.

Besides planning a bed makeover for the boy – for which I think I have found an ideal mattress – I finally pinpointed why he’s been sleeping so lousy recently.

He’s not eating dinner.

He turned up his nose at pork chops and gravy over rice on Saturday night (his sister did too), and coupled with no nap during the day (ditto for Ane), this resulted in a early bath and a 7:30 pm bedtime… which resulted in a restless night. Sunday evening, he turned down a fabulous dinner at Friend and Doc’s that his sister willingly ate (steak and potatoes, kid! Creamed spinach and roasted garlic! No, Ane did not eat creamed spinach – she ate a small salad instead), and was up at 5 am Monday morning, tummy rumbling.

On the up side, he’s been eating pretty good breakfasts. Skipping a meal will do that to you.

I refuse to be a short order cook. Dinner is dinner. Eat it or leave it, but don’t expect anything else. Picky eaters go hungry here if they turn their nose up at food.

Hopefully, we can remedy the waking up starving situation soon in order to get more sleep at night. I was planning on making spaghetti and meatballs this week, anyway.

And I think we’ve pretty much decided on a Cars bedding set for Tad. I want to get the bed makeover done soon, and as much as I would love to make him a quilt (or have Grandma help me make one), I think time is of the essence here.

Your kids don’t eat pork chops and gravy?!?! What is wrong with them?! It’s my favorite and an old reliable dinner for the kids.

    I restate my suggestion:

Step 1.): Get a length of 550 Cord (long to contain him but short enough where he cannot reach the door)
Step 2.): Attach one end of the 550 Cord to his bed
Step 3.): Attach other end of the 550 Cord to Tad
