Disney on Ice!

It was GREAT.

Tad thought that Disneyland had come to us – and in a way, it had.

There was a Princess pre-show walk through that Ane and I checked out. There were full-size dresses from four princesses, along with some props – Ariel, Snow White, Tiana (the newest princess who will be in the new movie The Princess and the Frog) and Belle.

Belle finds her rose

There had been a “Princess meet & greet” advertised along with the displays at the pre-show – and I had no idea how it was going to work, or how long the lines were going to be. It was surprisingly easy – mostly because the live Princess was not actually meeting or greeting the rabid little girls that had come to see her.

Princess Tiana greets her fans

This is Princess Tiana (Cinderella had been out – and left – just before we got to the “meet the Princess” part). She’s on a platform about four feet up in the air – and behind the ropes. The little girls got to wave and say hi – but this is as good a picture as you could get with said princess:

Ane and Tiana

Not that Ane cared much – and it did keep the crowd crazy at bay. Ane was just excited to see the real, live Tiana – a princess she’d never met before – and immediately asked if she was at Disneyland now. I told her I was pretty sure she was by now (not that we’ll be stopping by to check anytime soon).

The show itself was fun. It was “hosted” by Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy – which thrilled Tad to pieces – and opened with a Cars segment. Tad was screaming right along with the thousands of other kids when his most favorite race car came out:

Lightning McQueen on ice

Happy Tad

The other segments were the Little Mermaid, the Lion King, and Tinker Bell. The Webmaster and I both liked the Little Mermaid part, while Ane said that she preferred Tinker Bell (though Ariel ran a close second). When Ariel skated and “sang” Part of Your World, Ane was unconsciously singing along, much to the Webmaster’s and my amusement.

Having fun watching

Tad behaved pretty well (he got bored by the time Tinker Bell came on), and a good time was had by all. It did make for a very late night, though. Good thing it was Friday night – not that they slept in much the next morning. Typical.

And now Ane is asking when we can go again.

Ane wore a princess dress! And Tad a Disney shirt. How appropriate! Thanks for the pictures. Looks like they were enchanted.

Cute! You can see in their faces how much fun they had. Whoever came up with the idea to go to Disney on Ice was a genius!
