Zoo Again

I am really liking having an annual pass to the zoo.  Last Saturday was the Webmaster’s company picnic, and guess where it was?

The zoo!

So, they paid for our admission that day, but the kids definitely enjoyed the fact that they knew what they wanted to see again this time.

And they also caught a few things we didn’t see before.

For example, we explored the African savanna area a little better.

And we saw a wandering peacock – and had to warn Tad that you can’t pet one.

Rerun was a little more awake this time.

But the highlight of the day (after the sun finally broke through the clouds) was going to the penguin exhibit during the feeding time and keeper chat.

Ane got to ask questions of the keeper during the chat, which thrilled her – the exhibit has five baby penguins, so she asked how old they were and what they get to eat.  Tad was thrilled because he found a tiny smelt fish that the keeper had overthrown, and had landed outside of the glass observation wall.  So he tossed it back over the wall, where a penguin snatched it up.  And that’s how Tad got to feed a penguin.

Of course, then we had to keep him from tossing anything else into the water.

And bonus points if you know what this is:

It’s a komodo dragon!  Tad was impressed with his size.

And after a day out at the zoo, with a company picnic, fresh air, and (finally!) sunshine, some people needed a nap.

See you again soon, penguins!

Does he always sleep with the remote in his hand? And pointed, too.
