Shark Party

Wouldn’t you want to be at a party when the cake looks like this?

Yes, all those cupcakes are gluten free, except for some of the decorations.

Tad’s cupcake was the one on top.

The shark is made of extra gluten free cake – the directions called for a Twinkie, which would have probably taken the frosting better.  But Tad didn’t mind one bit.  And to top it off, Grandma had made a shark watermelon to hold the fruit salad.

The party itself was quite a success as well.  Tad made quite a haul.

And not all of it was shark-related.  His uncles and aunts also know that he still loves Star Wars… and LEGO sets.

However, the shark loot was pretty great stuff.

But the cupcakes were what Tad had been wanting ever since he saw Auntie and me decorating them on Friday.

And he was more than ready for his birthday shark cupcake.

And he loved hearing “Happy Birthday” being sung to him… and blowing out his candles.  He blew each one out individually, saying, “Make a wish!” before he blew each candle out.

And the shark was quite tasty.

It was a great party, and a great end to Shark Week.

I have no idea how we top this next year.

We loved Tad’s speech about habits of the whale shark as he held it (ninth picture). What a kid! What a fun party!
