Christmas At Grandma and Gichan’s

(part 2 of the Christmas debriefing)

“Get in the car.  Get in the car!  GET IN THE CAR!!!”

Dragging the older two kids out of the house and away from their brand-new toys (minus Susan the doll, who was along for the ride) was like extracting teeth.

We finally made it over to Grandma and Gichan’s house, where the kids were forced to sit for yet another picture before they were allowed to open presents.  Poor children.

It was then time to open up their stockings…

… and then eat brunch.  Let’s just say that the pause in the orgy of unwrapping did not go over well with the older two.  However, Rerun was ready for a real meal.

Unfortunately, he was denied the real meat of the meal.

Next year, sweetie.

And then he promptly proved that he was a big boy… by standing alone.

On Christmas Day!!!

Ane was thrilled with his accomplishment; Tad, not so much.  He was ready for more presents.

There were more Star Wars Legos from Grandma and Gichan…

… and a Nerf blaster from the Captain.  He might have written Belle, Berry, Beth and Baby Bee’s names on the package, but we all know who did the shopping.  (Thanks a lot, Captain.)

Grandma apparently had some insider info from Santa, because she was prepared for Susan’s arrival with matching flannel nightgowns.

And Gichan gave her Ken and Barbie from Toy Story 3 – which she had been wanting very badly.

Rerun continued his pursuit of paper eating…

… but he did flash some killer smiles for us…

… and continued to practice his newfound skill.

Later that evening, he thought he might try to walk.  But he’s just not ready for it yet.  He does a pretty good lunge, though.

He definitely enjoyed his first Christmas Day celebrations.

We finally rolled home, stuffed to the gills with good food (Grandma’s brunch and Gichan’s barbecued teriyaki chicken for dinner, plus kringle and cookies and other goodies), and remembered it was Saturday… so it was bathtime and bedtime, right away.

We had church in the morning, and more Christmas celebrations to come.
