Old Car, New Car

It’s kind of a Dr. Seuss-like story…

Goodbye, old car.  You served your purpose for over 10 years.  I can’t say that you always served us well, or that you didn’t refuse to start a few times when it was terribly inconvenient…

So long, old car.

Hello, new car!

THAT is our new car!  It was time.  With the Webmaster taking business trips to Portland with surprising regularity – he’s there again this week – the reliability and safety of our old 1998 Ford Contour was definitely in question.  And to top it off, the driver’s seat no longer adjusted at all.  Best as the Webmaster could figure, the seat’s frame had actually broken and was stuck in place.  Not safe.

So, after some shopping around, we finally settled on a 2011 Ford Fiesta… which we bought on Friday!  And the Webmaster promptly drove it down to Portland last night.

Ane is in love with the new car because she can ride in the front seat.  The passenger side airbag turns off when someone lighter sits in the passenger seat, which means that with a booster, Ane or Tad can sit in the front.  It’s a very cool feature.  The Fiesta handles beautifully and is very… blue.  The Webmaster had wanted black or silver, but no luck on those fronts.  I actually like the blue, and the color wasn’t a big deal to me.

So, welcome, new car!  I hope that you’re a little more reliable than your predecessor, and that we can keep you around for the next 10 years.

Wow, that’s blue. Maybe it needs some white racing stripes to make it look less like a clown car.

That booster seat makes [Webmaster] look super studly! 🙂
