Baking Girl

When Tad went back to school, I asked Ane what she wanted to learn this summer.

Her answer surprised me.  “I want to learn to bake!”

I agreed immediately.  Learning to bake (and to do some simple cooking) is a great thing.  It covers so many skills in life, not to mention reading (recipes) and math (measuring ingredients).  So, we decided to start with something simple – and something that Gichan always wants.

Chocolate chip cookies!

She read the recipe aloud to me, I showed her the basic measurement units for cups, teaspoons, and tablespoons, and we got the dough put together.  She stirred in the chocolate chips.

We only made one batch, and Gichan got half of them.  They’re pretty much gone at our house, so I can’t imagine they lasted very long over at Grandma and Gichan’s house, either.

With all the mild, rainy weather we’ve been having, we might as well bake!  Any special requests out there?  Ane thinks we can make anything, with the right recipe.

What a little baker! We are so proud. And happy you didn’t make her wait until she was older.
