First Day for a Full Day

Today is the day, and they are off and running!

Tad’s bus comes first, arriving at about 8:05, so we have to be out at the bus by 8 am.

He got up just after 7, ate a bowl of chocolate Cheerios, got dressed, and had a little time to play with his Batmobile and Batman toys that he got for his birthday before it was time to go.

And when it came time to leave, there was… his brand-new Batman backpack!

His bus driver was right on time.  It looks like he is the second stop on the bus route.  I buckled him in, and he was ready to roll!

I walked home, and found Ane completely dressed and ready, having finished her chocolate chip bagel and coffee while I was out with Tad.

My big girl was so ready to go that I made her play two rounds of Math Bingo on the iPad to distract her – and brushing up on her math skills doesn’t hurt any, either.

Once Rerun was up and dressed, we were off to the bus stop!

And we waited… and waited… and waited.  I finally called the transportation office at 8:58 – the bus was supposed to arrive around 8:40.  The kids – Ane, Little Mo, Big Jay and Jean – were all going bonkers while waiting.  Rerun was pretty happy to be outside and running around, though.

The bus came around the bend as the phone was ringing at the district office.  It had been ringing off the hook – no one was answering – so I hung up when I saw the bus.  Maybe that’s why they didn’t answer.

So, the bus finally got them rolling at 9 (it was a new driver today – not sure if that’s a permanent change), and Rerun and I walked home for breakfast.  I realized that in all the excitement and adrenaline, I hadn’t had any coffee yet!  I’m fixing that now.

Rerun and I have a few errands to run today, so we won’t be bored.  But I would feel awfully lonely without my little Rerun right now.
