Our First Christmas Decoration
Let the countdown begin!
With Tad eagerly anticipating Christmas this year, I thought it would be a good idea to bring back an idea I once used with Ane. So, I made her measure and cut the paper (made her use a ruler and measure – a little math work), I wrote the dates on the strips, and then Ane, Tad and I colored them. I stapled them all together and made the sign for the top.
This is really going to help Tad visualize the days as we count down. And yes, there are a lot of sharks drawn on these rings.
There’s some Batman in there, too – along with a few words written by Tad. He asked me how to spell “Santa” and “Batcave,” wrote them down, then wanted to spell his sister’s name along with the word “doll.”
“Tad, I already have my doll – I just want clothes,” she told him.
When Tad doesn’t like his drawing, he just tosses it aside and starts again. Mommy and Ane did a bit of salvaging of his discarded sharks. Did a pretty good job of it, too, if I say so myself.
We start the chain today, and will take off one ring every night. And it’s out of Rerun’s reach (though that one is bright enough to drag a chair over to it, I’m betting). The kids had a lot of fun putting this together, and I know that they are looking forward to taking them all off!
I guess it’s time to take down this year’s Thanksgiving artwork – both pieces by Tad:
These are on the pantry door, but that’s where I hang the Christmas cards. So it’s time to clear it off! I’m sure some of the overachievers will be sending them out soon.
