Writing the Letter

It’s that time again… time to talk up the kids, and the family, and write the annual Christmas letter.

Why can’t everyone just read the blog?  I’m posting here five times a week!

(I’m only sort of kidding.)

I want to make everyone sound good without bragging.  It’s like writing an annual cover letter for a family resume, for people who only check in on us once a year.

So, I’m writing a letter, and the kids are writing letters to Santa.  The plan is to go see him tonight.  I told Ane and Tad that they need to write them up after school today (I’m trying to keep Tad from going too crazy, because once that letter is written, he is going to want to take it straight to the man in the suit), and I can already tell that I’m going to be helping Tad spell out things like “Bat-Cave” and “Legos.”  He can spell “shark” all by himself; he doesn’t need me for that one.

I just hope Rerun takes a good nap, and then sits still and smiles for the picture.  But, if not, well… it will be a story to tell later, right?

Way I see it you have two options to do your Christmas letter this year. 1: Copy & Paste sections of you blog from the past year and form them into a letter. 2: Sit down with a pot of coffee and knock the letter out in one sitting.

To avoid this in the future you could try what Ressis does, at the end of each month write a couple of sentences about what the family did during the month that just passed. That way come time to mail the letter it is already written.

Adding to Oddball, you could just send “Merry Christmas! Read my blog!” And thats all! just put the URL at the bottom! Easy! Also I’m actually sad that I won’t be there to see the kids take their pictures! :[
