Surgery Update

Hi, everyone!

I am doing much better than I was 48 hours ago, let me tell you.

First things first – the surgery went perfectly.  Completely laparoscopic, no loose stones blocking any other bile ducts, and I was out of surgery in the predicted amount of time.  I had a hard time getting the anesthesia out of my system, but once the anti-nausea meds really kicked in, the Webmaster was able to take me home.  Still, having my gallbladder out feels like I got roundhouse kicked several times in the middle, and after eating my first few meals I could really feel that my insides were all shifting back into place.  Not pleasant.

My mother (aka Grandma) has been an absolute wonder this week.  I’m thinking of hiring her to be my housekeeper.  She showed up before the Webmaster went to work, fed the kids breakfast so I could rest, and then set them to work.  Ane had a cookie baking lesson on Wednesday…

She has made Tad read her a book every day…

And she’s handled Rerun for me, because I can’t pick him up yet.  She’s changed diapers and put him down for naps, and kept everyone busy and off the TV (though they did have time on the iPad).

She goes to her real job today, so I’m on my own – though the Webmaster might work from home to give me a hand.  We’ll see.

Regardless, I am physically doing much better.  I am still very stiff and sore, and my back is locking up because I’m using all those muscles to keep my stomach muscles from moving.  I’m not quite ready to lift 25 pounds of Rerun, but I can lift him onto my lap when I’m sitting in a chair or on the couch.

I am so grateful and thankful for all the good wishes and prayers I’ve received – I have felt them all.  I will be back on normal blogging schedule on Monday.

And while I’ve been laid up, Rerun has become quite the little Jedi Padawan.  His siblings have been playing with their lightsabers, and Ane let him use hers.  He makes adorable sound effects, and challenged his father to a duel last night.

Another year or so, and he’ll be ready for the Jedi Training Academy at Disneyland.

[…] I can hardly believe it, but as of today, it has been exactly one year since I went in for gallbladder removal surgery. […]
