Day at the Zoo

After the Webmaster was away at PAX (Penny Arcade Expo) for most of the weekend, he made it up to me and the kids with a trip to Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium on Monday.  It was a last hurrah before school started.

We went to see our favorite sharks, and the adorable clouded leopard cubs (before they move this week to new zoos – the cubs, not the sharks), and we saw a few things we haven’t seen before, like the North Aquarium feeding time.  The kids thought it was fun, and Rerun was impressed for all of ten minutes.

We also saw the elephants.

Or, as Rerun calls them, “ephants!”

Then we spent some time winding down in the play area, which the kids just love.

Rerun discovered the little lily pad water area, and could have stayed there all day, playing in the “wawers.”

He actually did not get as wet as I thought he might, though he kept leaning over to look at where the water was streaming from.  I warned him that he was going to get hit, and he finally leaned far enough over that when the intermittent stream came up again, it hit him right in the forehead.  I giggled, but it didn’t phase him one bit.

The kids had a great time, and Rerun slept all the way home.

And so ended our summer.
