The Great Pumpkin Is Coming

Tad has been addicted to Charlie Brown and company for a while now, which culminated in us buying the “A Charlie Brown Christmas” eBook app for the iPad last Christmastime.  He adored it, and has read it all year round.

However, it also made it onto our iPod Touch, where Rerun has been exposed to it.  A lot.  So much so that I put a Peanuts T-shirt on him a few weeks ago and he pointed at the characters and said, “Char’ B’wown!  S’oopy!”

I had no idea that he knew who they were.

With fall on its way, and pumpkins being sold in stores, I decided to let the kids watch “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” on Sunday.  Tad has always loved this one, because it is so funny.  But Rerun has never watched it to remember it.  And then the boys watched it again on Monday evening after dinner, while the Webmaster and Ane were at church and we were at home.

Yesterday, Rerun came up to me with a bag full of toys that his brother had been “pretend” trick-or-treating with on Monday after the show was over.  Rerun, taking a page out of Tad’s scripting book, said to me, “I got cookie!  I got gum!”

Then he looked me straight in the eye and said, “I got a wock (rock).”

I laughed my head off, then I managed to get him to say it to Grandma over the phone, who also found it funny.  After getting so much of a reaction, he now thinks it’s the best line ever.

Someone is going to enjoy trick-or-treating this year.  Maybe I’d better have a clean rock on hand for him.
