Summer’s Here And So Are The Tears

Ane got off the bus just sobbing her heart out yesterday.  It was the last day of school.  Her bus driver was actually worried about her.

“What on earth is the matter with you?”  I asked.

“I just don’t want school to end!  I love third grade!  I love Mrs. C (her teacher)!”  More tears.

Tad’s bus had come just before hers, so he threw an arm around her.  “Ane, you need to CALM DOWN,” he told her.  That made me laugh, which made her cry harder.

When we got home, she was still sobbing.  I told her, “If you don’t stop, I’m taking your picture and putting it on Facebook.”

“I DON’T CARE!!!” she howled.

I did take the picture, but I figured it was too cruel to post it anywhere.

I learned from another mom that Tad had gotten a little teary at school, too.  But he only cried at home when I told him that no, we weren’t going to be watching LEGO Batman: The Movie right that moment.

It’s been less than 24 hours since school let out and I’m ready to send them both back.

This is going to be a long summer.
