Whirlwind

Does it seem to anyone else that we are very suddenly running out of time in this calendar year?

I am marking time staring into this little boy’s eyes…

… but all around me is a whirlwind of activity and hype and crazy and SCREAMING CHILDREN.

And Rerun’s constant refrain of “Mom!  Mom!  Mom!  Mom!  Mom!  MOM!”

When I finally say, “WHAT???”  he says, “I’m right here!”

I had no idea, kid.

Between the four kids, Tad’s therapy, the other activities, and the day-to-day chores (that laundry ain’t gonna wash itself, and everyone always seems to want clean underwear), I suddenly realized that there was 6 weeks until Christmas – and Ane’s birthday.  And that I committed to doing her friend birthday party 2 weeks BEFORE her birthday this year.  (I’ll write about that tomorrow.)  And that the Major, Q-Bee, and the B Squad are all showing up in LESS THAN A WEEK for Thanksgiving – and an early Christmas exchange between the cousins.

And have I mentioned that my house looks like the kids made it their personal mission to sift through their lives and possessions… and then leave it all out on the living room floor?

Granted, my craft corner is no better.  It’s been almost unusable for a whole year, because I have been so disorganized.  In my defense, I was pregnant, too, and now I have a moving baby on my hands.  I might be getting more sleep, but he’s getting in to more things.

I have exactly one week to get some things turned around, or this Christmas season is going to be far more chaotic than it should be.

Challenge accepted.
