Quiet Day at the Zoo

It was the end of the semester, and Ane and Tad had both Monday and Tuesday off of school.  With Tad doing so well at school right now, I decided that extra therapy would be a good idea.  So, after an extra ABA session on Tuesday, I took the kids to burn off some excess energy at the zoo.  Which, because almost no one else was out of school, was nearly deserted.  There were whole spots where there was no one else around.

And because it was a cool, slightly wet day, the animals were out and enjoying themselves.

The kids enjoyed themselves – even Thumper, who I was packing around with me.  All 20 pounds of him.

We visited some of our favorite spots – and the kids and I know Woodland Park so well now that we don’t need a map.  We discovered the penguins are Seahawks fans…

… and checked in on his “friends,” the dwarf crocodiles.

We ended the day in the Zoomazium, to warm up a little and give my back a rest.  The kids got to run around and play, but Thumper was more than a little confused by the whole “go and play” thing.

"We do what now?"

Rerun tried to be helpful.

"Am I tall enough to see this?"

But Thumper finally did get the hang of playing and having fun.

Make noise!!!

The kids were having so much fun that I hated to leave, but we needed to beat traffic home.  “There is always a next time,” I told the kids.

And every child except Tad fell asleep on the way home.
