Football is Stressful

Yesterday was the NFC Championship game.  The Seahawks were hosting the Green Bay Packers.  I was wearing my brand new jersey (#4, Hauschka, the team kicker).

My new jersey!

But because this is Seattle, a wind storm had come through the night before and we’d lost power.  We learned this at 3:30 am when Tad (followed by Rerun) burst into our room screeching that the power was out and we needed to FIX IT NOW.

We have been through this before with him (and had his ABA therapist work on it with him as well), so he reluctantly acknowledged that Mom and Dad could not “fix” the power outage on their own.  We managed to get him to go back to bed, and kept our fingers crossed (in our sleep) that the power would be back on come morning.  It wasn’t, but fortunately, plan A had been to watch the game at Grandma and Gichan’s house.  And they DID have power.

Well, the game was…. STRESSFUL.  It was one of those games where, if you love the game of football, this was one of those amazing games that defy explanation.  If you are a Seahawks fan…. well, you spent the first half of the game in shock, the second half in prayer, and the overtime in screaming.  At least, that was how it was for us.

NFC Champs again!!!

Everyone was excited!!!!

Cheering and photobombing

Thumper had actually napped through most of the game (another advantage of Grandma and Gichan’s house – the pack and play is UPSTAIRS and that meant less noise), but he was awake for the post-game wrap up, and watched some of it from Gichan’s lap.

Watching the post-game interviews

It blows my mind that yes, WE REALLY ARE GOING BACK TO THE SUPER BOWL.

My blood pressure was pretty well blown today, too.  This was SO much more stressful than last week’s game!!!

Here’s hoping the Super Bowl is a little more like last year’s game….

(… and yes, our power came back on before we got home!)

I have to admit… I was hoping for the Packers to win. Mostly because the Seahawks had just been last year. However, now that the Patriots won, I will be rooting for your Seahawks. And I do hope that the Patriots don’t try and cheat, like they did against Indy with deflategate. I think the Seahawks/Packers game and the Ravens/Patriots game last week have been the best games all season. And yes, heart stopping. Good luck to your seahawks in Phoenix!
