Flashback Friday

Flashing back to April 2014, a little over a year ago, when we were waiting for an airplane to take us all to Washington, DC, to see the Major, Q-Bee, and the B Squad.

Waiting for a plane - April 2014

Why this picture?  Well, because Thumper and I are hopping on a plane tomorrow…. FOR SCIENCE!

No, really!  Since Rerun was 6 months old, and Thumper was 3 months old, they have been part of a brain study for children with autistic older siblings.  Rerun finished the study when he was three, after 3 MRIs and lots of evaluations.  Thumper is still in the study, has completed 3 MRIs, and is going for his final one on Saturday night.

The catch is, this MRI is scheduled in Salt Lake City, at the University of Utah.  The MRI machine that we’ve been using all this time at Seattle Children’s Hospital is no longer available to use for research purposes, so the University of Washington had to find an identical MRI machine (in order to keep the data profile consistent)… and the closest one was in Utah.

So, Thumper and I are hopping on a plane to take a quick trip to Utah.  We’ll only be there overnight before flying home – long enough to do the MRI on Saturday, and then catch a plane home on Sunday morning.  It’s all a big whirlwind, and the Webmaster will have the older three here at home by himself (with an assist from Grandma, Gichan, and Auntie).

I’m sure I’ll have lots of stories to tell come Monday or Tuesday!  Wish me luck!
