Pumpkin Pickin’ Time
Our church is hosting another pumpkin patch this year (it doubles as a fundraiser for the youth group), so on Saturday, with Nana and Papa for company, we went to pick out pumpkins!
The rule was: you have to be able to lift and carry the pumpkin you want. (Exception made for Thumper, of course.) This cut down on Tad’s options significantly (he had visions of “the biggest pumpkin EVER” and Mom is just mean).
It was a little rainy, but there were still fun things to do – like pumpkin bowling!
There were even more things inside – “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” was playing, and there was a bean bag toss, a bouncy house, and food (also fundraising for the youth group). You could even carve your pumpkins if you wanted, and many people were. But I held the kids off – we will carve pumpkins later in the week, so they don’t have time to rot by next Saturday.
There are four nicely-sized pumpkins that are sitting by our back door, just waiting to be carved!

Sheesh, Mom. Let the boy have his big pumpkin! You have arms!
