Halloween 2015!

“We’re the Guardians of the Galaxy.”

This was all Tad and Rerun’s idea.

After seeing the movie, Tad wanted to be Star-Lord for Halloween.

I was really surprised, but eager to try anything (ANYTHING) that wasn’t Batman.  Rerun was completely on board with being Rocket Raccoon.  He absolutely could not wait to get his costume on.

This left a few more characters to decide on.  Tad and Rerun decided that Thumper had to be Baby Groot.

We went very simple for him, because Thumper isn’t into dressing up for extended periods of time.  We went for comfortable, plus a lightweight mask.  We had to distract him with videos for him to even keep it on for pictures.

Then the boys had to talk Ane into being Gamora.  She eventually agreed, but that meant she had to be green to really sell it.  So I spent about 90 minutes with body paint and crayon eyeshadow to turn her green.  And it looked amazing!

Yes, we even painted her fingernails dark green.

And then Tad talked his father into being Drax.  We got a costume shirt for the Webmaster to wear.  We maybe should have gone a little further with him (hey, we turned Ane green), but I think it worked out well.  It also helped us keep Thumper in the picture, as posing for group photos is not his favorite thing.

The kids had a blast, especially Rerun.  He was in love with his costume.

So much so that I had to promise him that he could wear his costume AFTER church (he was upset that I wouldn’t let him wear it TO church).  I see many more days of full Rocket get-up ahead.  At least I’m going to get my money’s worth out of his costume!
