Bedtime Bribes

Tad really loves comic strips.  REALLY loves them.  His favorites are Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes (he used to call them “Tiger and Boy”), and Garfield.  He checks out comic book anthologies from the school library all the time.

I think he may have found his art medium.

Anyway, he is absolutely addicted to “The Garfield Show,” which is the current cartoon that the character is in.  And the show is on at 8 pm every weekday.

If he wants to watch it, he has to have his pajamas on and his teeth brushed.  And because Rerun wants to watch whatever Tad is watching, he follows suit as well.

We usually have a mad rush at 7:55.  Or, if they keep ignoring my comments, they often realize that the show has started without them – and then they have to hustle.  Because I told them that I would not be taping this show.  Ever.  It’s very hard for these DVR-reared children to understand.

But so far, I haven’t had a single argument about getting ready for bed.

That’s a win in my book!
