Cooking With Siblings

Ane was making chocolate chip cookies, with Rerun playing the role of sous chef.  He was desperate to help, and she just wanted to bake something.

Once Rerun had added the dry ingredients to the wet, but before he had mixed them together, he said, “Now we add the chocolate chips!”

Ane was horrified. “Not yet! Mise en place, boy!”

Someone watches too much Food Network, I think.

After the first tray of cookies were baked and out of the oven, Rerun was done helping.  Ane rolled her eyes, and then looked at me.  “Now I know how you felt when I used to quit on you,” she said.

But on the plus side, this was the first batch of cookies that I did not help at all with.  Ane handled it from start to finish.  (Okay, I turned off the beeping timer twice.  But she took the trays out of the oven!)
