Everyday, Baseball

This was a most unusual weekend/week/homestand for us.  We as a family, attended 5 out of 7 games in the last week.

It all started with the Saturday game.  The Webmaster and I had bought tickets back in March to go to the Edgar Martinez number retirement game.

And that ceremony was marvelous.  The game, not so much.  It was the third loss in a row for the team.

Grandma and Gichan had tickets for Sunday’s game, and took Ane and Rerun along.

The kids had a good time, but the Mariners lost again.

And then, because Auntie had her monthly tickets to use, we went as a whole family to Monday’s game.

But it was all for naught, despite Auntie bringing us garlic fries during the game.  It was a blowout loss.

And then the Webmaster and I had the most amazing offer from his manager at work.  How would we like to go to Tuesday’s game, courtesy of Microsoft, AND BE IN A SUITE?  AND TAKE A TOUR OF SAFECO FIELD?

UH, YES.

Grandma and Gichan very kindly babysat for us (on Gichan’s birthday, no less), and the Webmaster and I had the most amazing time.

We had a full behind-the-scenes tour, along with getting to pass by Auntie at work (she came out of the family lounge to say hi!), sitting in the bullpen, and standing in center field.

After the tour, we went up to our suite (next to the press boxes!), and had dinner and watched the game.

AND THEY FINALLY WON!!!

And then Wednesday’s game was an afternoon matinee, and Auntie invited Tad to go with her and Gichan, and R., a former classmate of Tad’s (Auntie is his summer tutor/nanny).

Tad even took his own money to buy ice cream (mostly because Auntie told him to).

And the team won again!  And now they are off on a long East Coast road trip.

So, I guess we may not be lucky for the team, but we ARE lucky that we have been able to enjoy so many games! (Thanks Auntie, and thanks Microsoft!)
