Happy Window Day!

So, we got bored and decided to have all the windows replaced.  Well, that’s not really how it happened, but it is happening.

The slightly longer version of the story is that while we were waiting for the subcontractors (plumbing and electrical) to make time in their schedules for us, we were busy admiring how nice the new windows looked, and the contractor offered to price out the windows that we had not replaced since moving in – including our large living room picture window.

And when the bid came in for the windows, labor, and sales tax, it really was too good a deal to pass up.  Plus, “our” guys would be the ones doing it, and right now, we are all waiting for more drywall mud to dry up, so adding on a little extra work was fine by them.

So, the windows were ordered, and they started prepping all the old windows to be removed.  I had to take Thumper to therapy (and pick the older boys up from camp), but I got to see the old picture window be the first removed.

Thumper was the only child at home, and found this entire process highly entertaining.  And I decided to make the most of this (hopefully) once-in-a-lifetime chance with a cute picture.

He was very amused by the idea that he could actually just climb out a giant hole in the house.

When we got home later that evening, the three windows in front were replaced, with two more to go – the current master bedroom and the bathroom.

As I said to the Webmaster, the house is getting a giant facelift, and it’s nice to know that we are going to be able to enjoy the improvements that were very much needed.
