There seems to be a lot of little tidbits of things that I haven’t mentioned yet, so I’ll just catch several items here at once…

Yesterday was Head’s 3rd birthday! Friend and Doc threw a lovely little dinner party for him, complete with cake and these really cute crayon-shaped candles. He received lots of nice presents that indulged his love of Veggie Tales and Fantasia 2000. The hardest part was keeping Ane and the Brain from “helping” him with his presents (the Webmaster removed Tad from the scene once our gifts had been opened). One of Head’s gifts was a take-apart airplane, which looked like a lot of fun to the Brain. He was desperate to play with it, but Friend firmly told him no. Then he seized upon a package of Crayola Color Wonders markers, and begged to open them up. When his mother said no, he protested loudly: “But Head needs to learn to share.”

“Brain, when you had your birthday, did you share all of your toys with Head?” I asked, knowing full well what the answer was (I was there, after all). I love talking directly to the Brain as if he was a rational adult, instead of the preschooler that he is, because I never know what is going to come out of his mouth – and it really tweaks him.

He glared at me. “But I really like this,” he whined. Friend still said no. Life’s hard, kid.

As frequent readers of this blog will know, Juliet (also known as Girl With Flat Hat) is not just a blogging friend, but one of my very good personal friends as well. She and her husband were visiting out here recently when they made a wonderful announcement – there is going to be a Baby With Flat Hat come early October! Everyone go and congratulate her!

Little Mo is has just gone through a major chemo round. It was supposed to happen at the end of February, but was pushed off because she developed a fever at that time. According to her parents, she has been a total champ, and her levels are currently holding steady – all good news – plus she has nucleted red blood cells, meaning that she is creating new cells for herself. She hasn’t needed a blood transfusion in weeks – also good news. Please continue to remember her in your prayers.

Handy Baby is starting to gain weight, plus he is still just adorable. His mother affectionately refers to him as her “fuzzy plucked chicken,” but if he continues to gain weight like he has this last week, she may have to start calling him her fuzzy plump roasting chicken. Hmm. Maybe we should just drop the chicken metaphors instead.

Since Tad decided to acquire a fat lip and push off our family pictures another week, the Webmaster and I decided that he needs a good haircut before we go. Unlike his sister, he never went completely bald as a baby. He always had a fuzzy head of perfect little boy hair – no bald spots and it covered his head and never grew much. We finally had to get his bangs trimmed, but the rest of his hair has remained as is – baby fluff and all. But it’s time to trim some of that fluff down – his hair is starting to develop a bit of curl (not unlike his dad), so his pillow hair is tremendously amusing, but very hard to control. Wish me luck – we’re going in this afternoon.

I think that’s all the news from around here. Unless you count the Webmaster getting himself a laptop. It’s in transit. I’m sure it will be much more interesting when it actually arrives.
